A professora Simone Saboia pede para divulgarDear Colleagues,

Greg Goss and I are co-organizing a session Advances in acid- base regulation in animals- from cell to animal” as a symposium in the ICCBP meeting to be held in Salvador, Brazil from August 12-16, 2007.  While the oral presentations for the symposium are now confirmed, the symposium is open for additional poster presentations. The following are the speakers and tentative titles for the session:

Susan Edwards (Georgia Southern University): "Cloning & characterization of epithelial NHE isoforms in the gills of fishes"

Greg Goss/Colin Brauner (University of Alberta/University of British Columbia): Evolution of whole animal acid-base regulation in aquatic vertebrates; hagfish as a model system for acid-base regulation.

Chris Wood (McMaster University): Acid-base and metabolic responses to feeding in the dogfish shark: the alkaline tide goes out.

Don Jackson (Brown University): Response to chronic metabolic acidosis:  It’s in the bones

Hans Otto-Portner (Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research), Global climate changes in temperature and CO2 on acid-base regulation in aquatic vertebrates

The abstract deadline is coming up soon (April 30th) and more information can be found at the meeting website ( http://www.ib.usp.br/iccpb-brazil/index.html). We hope you will join us in this symposium and look forward to seeing you at the meeting. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
