13th International Meiofauna Conference

The International Association of Meiobenthologists invites to the 13th International Meiofauna Conference, to be held at the Recife Palace Hotel, Brazil on 29th July - 3rd August, 2007 and jointly organized by the Research Groups on Meiofauna from Brazil.

The first International Meiofauna Conference occurred in Tunis, Tunisia, 1969. This meeting joined 28 researchers from seven countries and aimed review the knowledge on systematic and ecology of the meiofauna taxa and the techniques used in analyses of interstitial fauna and environment. The second meeting occurred in York, England, 1973, then in Hamburg, Germany 1977, Columbia, USA 1980, Ghent, Belgium 1983, Tampa, USA 1986, Perpignan, France 1995, Plymouth, England 1998, Boston, USA 2001, and the most recent occurred in Ravenna, Italy, 2004; when it joined 200 researchers from the whole world. Now, for the first time, the International Meiofauna Conference will be carried out in the Southern Hemisphere, in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil.
